Need a way to talk to someone anywhere in the world? There is a free service available to you and your colleague(s): Skype.

Skype is a free service that provides you with access to voice and video calls over an internet connection. The service also has great collaboration functions such as file sharing and screen sharing. The requirements for using Skype are minimal:

A headset will help improve your voice and audio clarity when talking over the internet.

  • Internet connection
  • Computer, smartphone, or tablet
  • Headset with microphone (optional but suggested for optimal voice & audio clarity)

To get started using Skype you need to go to the Skype website and download the free application. Alternatively, if you are using a smartphone or tablet, go to your mobile device's app store and install the free Skype app. Open the app on your computer or mobile device and follow the instrucitons for signing up for free account.

All that's left for you to do after installing the application and setting up your account is to exchange usernames with people you want to talk to and give them a call!
